French Polynesia named top travel destination for 2027

French Polynesia has been named among the top destinations in Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel 2027’ list. The selection, which includes New Caledonia, highlights the South Pacific region for its cultural authenticity and natural beauty, a move Tahiti Tourisme officials describe as a significant mark of credibility for the destination.

In conjunction with rising travel interest, Paul Gauguin Cruises and Ponant Explorations have launched the ‘Tempting Tahiti’ promotion. Travelers booking cruises for 2026 or 2027 before the end of October can receive a $1,000 onboard credit. The offer is combinable with various early booking discounts and loyalty programs. Ponant Explorations is also expanding its presence in the region with the deployment of the Le Jacques Cartier, a new-generation expedition ship designed to access remote areas such as the Gambier and Austral islands.
