French rail updates: SNCF ticket promotions and new RER B train prototypes

SNCF has launched the ‘Jours Traincroyables 2026’ campaign, offering up to 200,000 train tickets for a maximum of €19. These promotional fares are valid for travel between September 8 and December 13, 2026, across the Ouigo network, including high-speed and classic lines. The offer covers over 70 destinations throughout France, including the Paris-Brussels route. The company plans to release these discounted seats progressively through September 2026.

In separate developments for French rail infrastructure, a prototype of the new MI20 train has completed its initial testing at the Alstom site in Crespin. Designed for the RER B line in the Île-de-France region, these new trains aim to alleviate peak-hour congestion by increasing passenger capacity by 35% compared to current models. The MI20 trains will feature improved amenities such as air conditioning, USB-C charging ports, and real-time information screens, with service expected to begin following a €2.5 billion order.
