French railway worker Anasse Kazib launches 2027 presidential bid

Anasse Kazib, a 39‑year‑old railway worker and syndicalist from Sarcelles, announced his intention to run in the French presidential election of 2027 under the far‑left Trotskyist party Revolution Permanent. He previously attempted to qualify for the 2022 election but gathered only 160 of the 500 required sponsor signatures. The party says it now has support from dozens of mayors and positions its campaign as a “worker‑focused, communist and revolutionary” alternative to other left formations such as La France Insoumise.

Kazib, a former columnist on RMC and a member of SUD‑Rail, is also scheduled to appear before a court on 25 June on accusations of “apology for terrorism” linked to statements made after the Hamas attacks on 7 October 2023. His candidacy joins that of Nathalie Arthaud, already declared for the Lutte Ouvrière list.
