France's Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Dardilly Drive Inclusive Sports Programs
The Regional Committee of Clubs Omnisports Nouvelle-Aquitaine took part in the Sport Inclusif Games on 2 June 2026 in Mérignac, showcasing parasport through a dedicated stand and activities with the Fédération Française des Clubs Omnisports (FFCO) and the Footbaskill association. The event highlighted efforts to raise public awareness of adaptive sports and promote accessibility.
In the same month, Dardilly’s municipal council heard a briefing from Laurent Besacier, deputy for sports and associations, on the town’s initiatives to expand inclusive activities, particularly adapted judo for athletes with mental or psychological disabilities. The council outlined support measures for local clubs, including equipment, facilities, and training for coaches, aiming to sustain and grow participation among people with disabilities.
Both initiatives reflect a broader push in French regions and municipalities to embed inclusion in sport, encouraging broader community involvement and strengthening the infrastructure for adaptive athletics.
