French regional initiatives promote mental health awareness through art and cinema

Various regional initiatives in France are being organized to mark the 37th Mental Health Information Weeks (SISM), focusing on art and cinema to promote awareness and inclusion.

In Remiremont, the Le Cercle intercommunal media library is hosting artistic workshops centered on emotions. In partnership with the Vosges Departmental Council and the Remiremont Emotion Film Festival, the program includes plastic arts sessions to explore facial expressions through painting and collage, followed by linocut workshops. These activities aim to help participants understand and express emotions.

In Sabres, Unafam and the PTSM of Landes are organizing a film debate at the L’Estrade cinema. The event features a screening of the film ‘Qui brille au combat’ by Joséphine Japy, which examines family relationships and mental health challenges. The session includes a public discussion with various associations to foster dialogue regarding psychic disorders and family support, alongside a presentation on inclusive cinema initiatives.
