Marine Le Pen's Campaign Faces Musk Endorsement and Slogan Lawsuit

Marine Le Pen has launched her fourth bid for the French presidency in the 2027 election. An appeals court reduced her ineligibility period, allowing her to run despite a conviction for embezzling European Parliament funds. She unveiled a campaign poster with the slogan “For France, the Renaissance.”

The centrist party Renaissance, led by former prime minister Gabriel Attal, filed a lawsuit accusing Le Pen of “unauthorised appropriation of its political identity and trademarks,” saying “Beyond the legal issue, this action undermines who we are.”

On the same day, Elon Musk posted on X that Le Pen is “France’s last hope,” a statement that sparked criticism from French officials, including foreign minister Jean‑Noël Barrot, who warned against foreign interference. Musk’s endorsement follows previous support for right‑wing parties in Europe and raises concerns about the influence of social‑media algorithms on the election.
