French schools undergo maintenance and renovations for new term
Municipal and departmental authorities in France are completing essential maintenance and renovation works in schools to prepare for the upcoming academic year.
In Gérardmer, municipal agents utilized the summer break to perform deep cleaning of classrooms, update digital equipment such as computers and projectors, and conduct masonry and painting repairs. These efforts focused on ensuring building safety and operational readiness for students and staff.
In the Gers department, approximately 5.4 million euros have been allocated to the built heritage of public middle schools for the 2026-2027 school year. A significant portion of these funds, totaling roughly 2 million euros, is dedicated to the reconstruction and renovation of the Hubert Reeves College in Fleurance following a fire in July 2025. This includes rebuilding the roof structure and repairing rooms damaged by subsequent flooding.
