French students struggle with university placements via Parcoursup
French high school graduates are facing difficulties securing university placements following the conclusion of the Parcoursup application process. A report by France Télévisions highlights cases where students with strong academic credentials failed to receive admissions for their preferred subjects.
With the supplementary phase of the Parcoursup platform having ended in early September, regular opportunities to secure short-term placements for the year are now closed. While the Ministry of Higher Education reported that 576,749 graduates received at least one offer out of approximately 660,000 applicants, many remain without suitable options.
Some students are seeking alternatives, such as working in the service industry or pursuing studies in Belgium. Challenges remain for those unable to relocate due to financial or family reasons, or those whose available options do not align with their specific career goals or academic interests.
