France marks 82nd anniversary of Liberation with local events
Several French municipalities are organizing events to mark the 82nd anniversary of the Liberation during the last week of August 2026.
In Vallauris Golfe-Juan, commemorations include a military vehicle parade, ceremonies at local war memorials, and a Liberation Ball. The town is also hosting ceramic art exhibitions at the Musée Magnelli and the Biennale des Céramistes d’Art.
Bourgoin-Jallieu is celebrating the anniversary with a ceremony at the memorial, a parade of vintage cars and period costumes, a community banquet, and a fireworks display. Similarly, Le Neubourg will host a parade of period vehicles, including Jeeps and GMCs, followed by a ceremony at the Liberators' memorial to honor the town's 1944 liberation by American troops.
In Bordeaux, the upcoming September schedule includes the Festival Gribouillis for graphic arts and the Climax Festival.
