French towns host communal festivals and commemorations

Several French towns are hosting community festivals and commemorative events during late August 2026.

In Excideuil, the communal festival will take place from August 28 to August 30 at the Place des promenades. The weekend features a pétanque competition, a carnival, a concert, and a fireworks display launched from the castle on Saturday night. An auto/moto exhibition is also scheduled for Sunday.

Ollioules will hold a series of events from August 22 to August 30. This includes the 82nd anniversary of the Liberation of Ollioules on August 23, featuring a wreath-laying ceremony and a celebratory dance. Additionally, the Fête de la Gare will run from August 26 to August 29, offering traditional Provençal activities such as games, communal meals like soupe au pistou and aïoli, and a procession for the blessing of watermelons and rosé wine.
