Frenkie de Jong addresses knee injury and media rumors
FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has addressed his recent knee injury and responded to media reports regarding his commitment to the club. De Jong revealed that he suffered a right knee medial collateral ligament tear, an injury that originated from an accident during a training session with the Netherlands national team at the World Cup.
He explained that while medical staff initially assured him the discomfort would not worsen, subsequent tests upon his return to Barcelona showed the injury was more severe than previously thought. He is currently undergoing conservative treatment and working with club physical trainers to facilitate his recovery.
In addition to the injury update, De Jong expressed frustration over what he described as false information being spread by certain journalists, specifically naming Gerard Romero. He denied rumors that he had refused to play in Champions League matches against Atlético Madrid and clarified that he maintains a positive relationship with both the club's management and head coach Hansi Flick.
