Frenkie de Jong linked to Chelsea amid transfer interest

Chelsea is reportedly preparing a significant move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong during the upcoming January transfer window. The London club is considering offering the 29-year-old Dutch international a highly lucrative contract to strengthen their midfield with his experience and playmaking abilities.

Barcelona is expected to demand a minimum fee of approximately €60 million (or £50 million) to consider selling the player. While Chelsea may be willing to meet these financial demands, Barcelona is not actively seeking to sell De Jong, which could complicate any potential negotiations.

This interest follows previous revelations from manager Erik ten Hag, who confirmed that De Jong was his top priority for Manchester United in 2022. Ten Hag had organized meetings with United executives to attempt to secure the midfielder, who remains a key figure for both Barcelona and the Dutch national team.
