Fresh snowfall hits the Alps across Europe

Fresh snowfall has blanketed parts of the Alps, with snow lines dropping to between 1,000 and 1,200 meters in some locations. On Saturday, October 24, significant precipitation was reported across the French, Swiss, and Austrian Alps, as well as parts of Italy.

In the French Northern Alps, Météo Alpes expects between 10 and 20 cm of snow at 2,000 meters, with accumulations reaching up to 25 cm above 2,500 meters. Switzerland is also seeing snowfall, particularly on the northern side of the Alps and in parts of Valais, with MeteoSchweiz forecasting up to 15 cm in regions like Chablais and Trient.

In Austria, morning snowfalls reached altitudes of approximately 1,200 meters before tapering off. While another weather system is expected to pass through the Alps on Sunday, October 25, it will bring warmer air, raising the snow line to approximately 2,400 to 2,500 meters in France and bringing rain to parts of Switzerland above 2,000 meters.
