FRITZ! GmbH unveils new router generation at IFA

The German router manufacturer FRITZ! GmbH (formerly AVM) has introduced a new generation of hardware at IFA Berlin, headlined by the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90. This launch marks a significant shift in both product design and naming conventions.

Under the new naming scheme, model names will lead with the connection type—such as Fiber, DSL, Cable, Mobile, or WAN—followed by a numerical combination indicating the Wi-Fi generation and series. This logic is intended to help consumers quickly identify the appropriate device for their specific connection needs.

The FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 features a new angular design intended to allow for universal placement, such as standing on a shelf or floor, while maintaining compatibility with existing wall mounts. The hardware includes eleven antennas positioned in the upper section to improve transmission performance, with all connections located on the underside to facilitate integrated cable management.
