FRITZ! releases beta updates for FritzBox and FritzRepeater models
FRITZ! has released new laboratory beta updates for several hardware models, preparing them for the transition toward FritzOS 8.50. The updates affect the FritzBox 7530 AX, FritzBox 5690, FritzRepeater 6000, FritzRepeater 3000 AX, and FritzRepeater 1200 AX.
Key improvements include enhanced interoperability with Amazon devices and optimized system memory usage. For the FritzBox 5690, the update focuses primarily on stability.
A significant technical update for the FritzRepeater models involves the handling of WLAN channels that are partially blocked by radar detection. Because 5-GHz networks share frequencies with systems like weather stations and flight radar, devices must vacate channels when radar signals are detected. The new firmware aims to manage these transitions more smoothly to prevent the extreme speed drops previously caused by reduced channel widths.
