FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 faces supply shortages and exclusive launch

The new FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 router will face significant availability challenges due to production capacity being fully pre-purchased by an undisclosed buyer. AVM CEO Jan Oetjen confirmed that an anonymous customer has secured the entire production capacity for the first several months, meaning the initial units will likely be distributed exclusively through service providers rather than retail.

As a result, the router is expected to be available through the provider 1&1 starting in October under the name ‘1&1 HomeServer Pro’. 1&1 will hold an exclusive position as the only German network operator offering the device for at least six months.

While the hardware was unveiled at IFA 2026, direct sales through the FRITZ! manufacturer shop are not expected until the beginning of the first quarter of 2027. The device features Wi-Fi 7 technology and supports both DSL and fiber connections, with theoretical speeds reaching up to 12.2 Gbit/s.
