FRITZ!Box troubleshooting: LED blinking and fail‑safe setting can disrupt internet

The WLAN LED on a FRITZ!Box router may blink continuously when the device is initializing, during a WPS pairing attempt, or while applying a firmware update. If the blinking persists and no Wi‑Fi connection is available, users are advised to restart the box, check cables and power supply, verify firmware version, adjust the wireless channel settings, or reset to factory defaults as a last step.

FRITZ!Box models equipped with the “Ausfallschutz” (fail‑safe) feature can unintentionally block internet access after a reboot. The function treats a reboot as a temporary outage and switches to a backup connection. If no backup device is attached, the router remains on the non‑existent link for the period defined in its settings (often ten minutes), even though the primary fiber line is already active. Adjusting the activation delay and the timeout for returning to the primary connection resolves the issue.
