Front de défense pour la patrie holds conference on religious reforms in Burkina Faso

The Front de défense pour la patrie (FDP) held a public conference in Ouagadougou on September 19, 2026, focusing on religious and customary reforms, national sovereignty, and population empowerment. The event was organized to support the national refoundation efforts led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré under the Progressive Popular Revolution (RPP).

FDP coordinator Lassané Sawadogo stated that the conference aims to sensitize the population to the government's vision and to counter criticisms and manipulations appearing on social media regarding these reforms. Speakers included Lieutenant-Colonel Lassané Porgo, semiologist Dr. Dramane Konaté, and Andama Bouda, the director of regulation for religious and customary activities.

The discussions addressed the responsibilities of religious and customary communities in social transformation, the pursuit of national sovereignty, and the relationship between spirituality and social refoundation. Dr. Konaté specifically reviewed reforms concerning both material and immaterial cultural heritage to promote secularism.
