Frontier Developments reveals Planet Zoo 2 wildlife reserves
Frontier Developments has released new gameplay details for its upcoming management simulation, Planet Zoo 2. A central feature of the sequel is the introduction of expansive wildlife reserves, which move beyond traditional zoo enclosures to focus on large-scale ecosystem management and rewilding.
In the showcased Sumatra rainforest biome, players must manage complex climatic conditions and local flora to support diverse animal populations. The gameplay includes specialized tools for monitoring these vast areas, such as research vehicles for traversing terrain, camera traps, and acoustic recording devices to track wildlife.
Successful conservation efforts within these reserves directly impact the simulation's economic cycle by increasing the accreditation rating of the organization, which in turn unlocks new opportunities for standard zoo operations. The game is scheduled for release on October 13, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
