Frost Museum of Science opens Pixar technology exhibition
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami has launched ‘The Science Behind Pixar’, an interactive exhibition exploring the intersection of mathematics, computer science, and animation. Developed by the Museum of Science, Boston, in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios, the exhibit runs through April 11, 2027.
Visitors can engage with over 50 hands-on elements across eight production phases, ranging from character modeling to rendering. The exhibition demonstrates how technology creates realistic effects, such as the movement of muscles and joints or the simulation of light and water in films like ‘Finding Nemo’. Interactive components allow guests to act as digital artists and computer scientists by creating digital sculptures or solving lighting problems.
Admission to the exhibition is included with regular museum tickets. Museum members receive exclusive benefits, including early entry and special previews.
