Fruit Attraction highlights agrifood innovation and financing

The Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid highlighted significant developments in the agrifood sector, focusing on innovation, financing, and sustainable technology.

FMC Agricultural Solutions presented tools for sustainable crop protection, emphasizing solutions like Verimark, Benevia, and Altacor. These products utilize the Cyazypyr active ingredient to provide effective pest management at low doses while remaining selective toward beneficial fauna.

BBVA reported a strengthening of its agrifood business following the event. The bank noted that financing for the agricultural sector reached 16 billion euros by the end of the first quarter of 2026, a 10% year-on-year increase. Additionally, sustainable mobilization within the sector rose by 92% to 2.24 billion euros.

The event also concluded with the Innovation Hub Awards 2026. Winners included UNICA for its Popits bite-sized cucumber, POLYFLY for its pollinator solutions, and AIMPLAS for its project developing compostable separators for premium oil from olive pruning remains.
