Fruit Attraction Madrid draws global produce trade interest
The Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid has concluded, serving as a major hub for the global fruit and vegetable industry. The event saw significant participation from Italian companies, with CSO Italy coordinating a collective of 30 firms—a 40% increase from the previous edition. Paolo Bruni, president of CSO Italy, noted that the fair exceeded expectations regarding both the number and quality of professional visitors, facilitating commercial contacts primarily with European and South American operators.
In addition to the Italian presence, the fair highlighted seasonal shifts, including the start of Spanish citrus and mango exports. However, the industry faces ongoing challenges, including high costs for diesel and sea freight, alongside geopolitical uncertainties affecting consumer purchasing power.
On a regional level, the international importance of the sector was further emphasized by Macfrut, a prominent Italian produce fair, granting its patronage to the Clementina Festival 2026. This festival aims to promote local clementines and the territory of Corigliano-Rossano through business meetings and cultural events.
