Fryte and Smatrics partner to integrate electric truck charging infrastructure

Munich-based startup Fryte has partnered with Smatrics to integrate public and semi-public charging infrastructure into its route planning platform for electric trucks. The collaboration aims to simplify charging logistics for freight forwarders in Germany and Austria by combining Smatrics’ network of approximately 20,000 charging points with the Smatrics Depot Club, which allows logistics companies to commercialize unused depot charging capacity.

The platform utilizes the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) standard to ensure interoperability between different charging operators. This allows dispatchers and drivers to view and plan routes using a mix of public fast-charging stations and private depot locations. Starting in 2027, selected charging points are expected to become reservable through the system. Smatrics, a joint venture between Verbund and EnBW, provides the infrastructure expertise, while Fryte focuses on the software-driven coordination of electric heavy-duty vehicle fleets.
