FS Group orders 19 high‑speed trains to boost France service and Paris‑London link
FS Group, through its subsidiary Trenitalia France, placed an order for 19 new high‑speed trains from Hitachi Rail, an investment of roughly €2 billion. The fleet will expand services on the Paris‑Lyon, Paris‑Milan and Paris‑Marseille routes and form the core of the planned Paris‑London high‑speed line slated to start operations in 2029.
A new maintenance facility at Maisons‑Alfort Pompadour near Paris will support the expanded fleet. The project is expected to create about 2,000 jobs across France, Italy and the United Kingdom and deepens the strategic partnership between FS Group and investment firm Certares. Gianpiero Strisciuglio, CEO and General Director of FS Group, said the order strengthens the group’s presence in a key market and advances the “Metropolitan Europe” high‑speed network vision.
