Fès-Meknès parliamentary landscape shifts after 2026 elections
The results of the September 23, 2026, legislative elections have significantly altered the parliamentary landscape in Morocco's Fès-Meknès region. Several prominent political figures who held seats during the 2021-2026 term failed to secure reelection for the 2026-2031 mandate.
Notable departures include Idriss Achtybi of the Union Socialiste des Forces Populaires, the former third deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, who finished fifth in the Sefrou constituency. Allal Amraoui of the Istiqlal Party also lost his seat in the Fès-Sud constituency, where he placed fifth in a race for four seats.
Other significant losses include Lahcen El Amoud of the Istiqlal Party in the El Hajeb constituency and Abdelrazzak El Hachimi of the RNI party in the Ifrane constituency. The elections have introduced new faces to the region's parliamentary representation, shifting the political composition of several constituencies.
