FSDA conducts raids against khoya adulteration in Kanpur

The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) conducted a major enforcement campaign in Kanpur Dehat and Kanpur Nagar to combat the adulteration of milk products, specifically khoya, ahead of upcoming festivals. Under the direction of Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob and supervision of Additional Commissioner Rekha S. Chauhan, 24 enforcement teams inspected various production units and markets.

During the operation, authorities seized and destroyed food items and adulterants valued at approximately 1.5 million rupees. Officials collected 28 food samples for testing and destroyed about 100 kilograms of contaminated khoya. In the Rasulabad area of Kanpur Dehat, specifically in Badshapur village, inspectors discovered skimmed milk powder (SMP), hydrogen peroxide, and cream extraction machinery at a production unit.

Legal action has been initiated, including the filing of an FIR against one individual under sections 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Additionally, the food registrations of three traders were either suspended or canceled following the discovery of unauthorized chemicals and improper production methods.
