FSDA food safety enforcement in Kanpur

Overview

The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) conducted an enforcement campaign in Kanpur Dehat and Kanpur Nagar to address the adulteration of milk products, specifically khoya, in preparation for upcoming festivals.

Under the direction of Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob, 24 enforcement teams inspected markets and production units. The operation resulted in the seizure and destruction of food items and adulterants valued at approximately 1.5 million rupees, including 100 kilograms of contaminated khoya. In Badshapur village, inspectors identified the use of skimmed milk powder, hydrogen peroxide, and cream extraction machinery at a production site.

Authorities collected 28 food samples for testing and initiated legal action by filing an FIR against one individual. Furthermore, the food registrations of three traders were suspended or canceled due to improper production methods and the discovery of unauthorized chemicals.
