Fátima Bernardes leaves TV Globo after endometrial cancer diagnosis

Brazilian journalist and former host of TV Globo's morning program Encontro, Fátima Bernardes, explained that her decision to leave the show in July 2022 was driven by an endometrial cancer diagnosis discovered in December 2020. The diagnosis led her to reassess her priorities and seek a less demanding schedule.

After her contract with Globo ended in 2023, Bernardes said she received market “sondagens” but no concrete offers, adding, “Efetivamente, não [recebi convites], uma proposta real.” A pilot for a variety‑talk show she developed for prime‑time did not fit the network’s 2025 programming plan. She now focuses on the videocast “Cá Entre Nós,” co‑hosted with her daughter Beatriz Bonemer, and has confirmed a second season, while also giving lectures on career and life changes.
