Fátima Bernardes, a leading Brazilian journalist and former host of TV Globo’s morning show, disclosed that her decision to leave the program in July 2022 stemmed from an early‑stage endometrial cancer diagnosis made in December 2020. The disease was detected during routine exams after the COVID‑19 pandemic, allowing her to undergo surgery without chemotherapy or radiotherapy. After her Globo contract ended in 2023, she received market inquiries but no firm offers, and a proposed prime‑time talk‑show pilot did not fit the network’s 2025 schedule. She therefore focused on the videocast “Cá Entre Nós,” co‑hosting with her daughter for a second season, and began giving career‑and‑life lectures.

In July 2026 Bernardes took part in an Instagram conversation with influencer Bruna Nóbrega, who had just begun radiotherapy for breast cancer. Bernardes reiterated her own cancer experience, emphasizing the benefit of early detection and the absence of chemo or radiotherapy, and continued to engage publicly on cancer journeys.

On 26 July 2026 she appeared on Record’s programme “Acerte ou Caia,” sending an emotional video message to her daughter, influencer Bia Bonemer, who was competing on the show. Bernardes reflected again on her 2020 diagnosis, noting that prompt detection enabled surgery alone, and said the combination of the cancer episode and the pandemic reshaped her outlook on life.
