FTSE Russell adds 117 Vietnamese stocks to Global Equity Index Series

FTSE Russell has officially announced the results of its September 2026 semi-annual review for the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS) in the Asia-Pacific region. This announcement marks a significant step in Vietnam's transition from a frontier market to a secondary emerging market.

A total of 117 Vietnamese stocks have been added to the index series, categorized into four market capitalization groups. The FTSE All-Cap index will include 27 stocks: 3 Large Cap (Vietcombank, Vingroup, and Vinhomes), 3 Mid Cap (BIDV, Hoa Phat, and VPBank), and 21 Small Cap stocks. Additionally, 90 stocks have been classified as Micro Cap within the FTSE Total-Cap index.

Six companies—Vietcombank, Vingroup, Vinhomes, BIDV, Hoa Phat, and VPBank—will also be included in the FTSE All-World index, which focuses on large and mid-cap stocks. This inclusion makes Vietnam the 49th country to participate in the FTSE All-World index. The changes are scheduled to take effect after the market close on September 18, 2026, with implementation starting on September 21, 2026.
