Fuel costs drive demand for LPG installations and hybrid SUVs in Poland
Rising fuel prices are significantly impacting vehicle choices and maintenance in Poland. High gasoline costs have led to a surge in demand for LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) installations, with some service centers reporting waiting lists of up to three months. While LPG remains more economical than gasoline, offering potential savings of up to 50 percent, the sudden demand has caused supply chain issues, specifically regarding the availability of gas tanks and complete installation kits.
In the automotive market, manufacturers are responding to fuel concerns with hybrid technology. The Geely Starray EM-i, a large plug-in hybrid SUV, is positioned as a solution for high-consumption vehicles. The model features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 262 HP. It offers an electric-only range of up to 83 km (WLTP) and a total range of 943 km, aiming to balance fuel efficiency with the utility of a large SUV.
