Fuel prices remain stable across major Indian cities

Petrol and diesel prices in major Indian cities remained largely stable on October 22, 2026. While rates are updated daily by oil marketing companies such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) at 6:00 AM, significant variations exist between regions due to state-level Value Added Tax (VAT), transportation costs, and dealer commissions.

In Hyderabad, petrol prices reached ₹116.15 per liter and diesel reached ₹104.23 per liter. In contrast, Delhi reported lower rates with petrol at ₹102.12 and diesel at ₹95.20 per liter. Other notable rates include Mumbai at ₹111.21 for petrol and Bengaluru at ₹111.68.

Fuel pricing in India is influenced by international crude oil markets, the exchange rate of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar, and central excise duties. Because petroleum products are currently outside the scope of GST, state governments maintain the authority to set individual tax rates, contributing to price discrepancies across the country.
