Fuel prices remain stable in Chennai and Bhubaneswar
Fuel prices in several Indian cities remained largely stable on September 17, 2026. In Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs 107.77 per litre and diesel at Rs 99.55 per litre. In Bhubaneswar, petrol remains at ₹108.97 and diesel at ₹100.68 per litre.
In Cuttack, petrol prices saw a slight increase to ₹109.33 per litre, while diesel decreased slightly to ₹101.02 per litre. Other major cities reported petrol prices of ₹102.12 in Delhi, ₹113.51 in Kolkata, and ₹111.21 in Mumbai.
Recent volatility in fuel costs has been linked to global crude oil price surges, which rose over 50 per cent since late February following geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. While state-run retailers previously delayed passing on higher input costs to shield consumers from inflation, cumulative hikes in some regions have occurred following periods of stability.
