Fuel prices remain unchanged across major Indian cities

Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across major Indian cities on September 26, 2026, following the daily morning revision by state-run oil marketing companies.

In Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs 107.77 per litre and diesel at Rs 99.55 per litre. Other major cities reported varying rates, including Delhi (Petrol: Rs 102.12, Diesel: Rs 95.20), Mumbai (Petrol: Rs 111.21, Diesel: Rs 97.83), and Hyderabad (Petrol: Rs 116.15, Diesel: Rs 104.23). Retail rates fluctuate between locations due to local taxes, transportation costs, and regional market conditions.

While domestic prices remained stable, the international crude oil market has seen significant movement. Global crude prices have faced volatility influenced by developments in the Strait of Hormuz. Although India imports a substantial portion of its crude oil, domestic retail prices are also affected by the rupee-dollar exchange rate, refining margins, and taxation, meaning international shifts do not always result in immediate local price changes.
