Fuel shortages cause gas station queues in Pamekasan and Jember

Fuel shortages and long queues at gas stations (SPBU) have been reported in several regions of East Java, specifically in Pamekasan and Jember.

In Pamekasan, local government monitoring revealed that queues were exacerbated by illegal purchases of subsidized fuel using jerry cans without official recommendations. Authorities also noted that some station attendants were facilitating small-volume jerry can sales, which contributed to the congestion. The situation was further intensified by delayed supplies from Pertamina in early September and subsequent panic buying by the public. The Pamekasan government plans to report these violations to Pertamina for sanctions.

In Jember, the local government addressed vehicle buildup by summoning representatives from Pertamina. Pertamina clarified that while national supplies remain secure, technical issues in the delivery and distribution process caused the local delays. To resolve the issue, an additional 100,000 liters of Pertalite and Pertamax were distributed to the Jember area over the last two days. Local officials have urged the public to avoid panic buying and to rely on verified information.
