Fuel supplies in Yogyakarta remain stable despite increased demand

Hiswana Migas and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga have confirmed that fuel supplies in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) are sufficient through the end of 2026. This assurance follows recent reports of increased queues at several gas stations in the region, particularly for the subsidized Pertalite fuel.

Officials noted that the surge in queues is driven by a shift in consumer behavior, with motorists moving from non-subsidized fuels like Pertamax to subsidized Pertalite. To manage this, authorities have conducted inspections at strategic locations in Sleman to ensure availability. Pertamina stated that energy reserves in DIY are currently exceeding normal daily requirements and that contingency plans are in place to handle potential consumption spikes during the upcoming Christmas and New Year period.

Nationwide, fuel prices for major providers including Pertamina, BP-AKR, Vivo, and Shell remain consistent with September 2026 rates as of late October. While subsidized fuels like Pertalite and Biosolar maintain their set prices, non-subsidized products such as Pertamax Turbo and Dexlite reflect adjustments made earlier in the month.
