Dominican Republic opens new consular offices in Bronx and Brooklyn

The Dominican Republic has expanded its consular presence in New York City with the opening of new offices in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

In the Bronx, the Consulate General has inaugurated an Annex Consular Office at 305 E. Fordham Road. This facility is the first in the county to be formally authorized by the United States Department of State. Consul General Jesús Vásquez Martínez stated the office aims to bring essential services—including passports, civil documentation, and legalizations—closer to the large Dominican community in the area, reducing the need for travel to Manhattan.

Similarly, a new Consular Extension has been established in Brooklyn at 2777 Atlantic Ave. This permanent location, also authorized by the U.S. Department of State, is intended to decentralize services and provide easier access for residents to handle legal and consular matters without crossing the Brooklyn Bridge.

In separate political developments, the Fuerza del Pueblo party, led by Leonel Fernández, has reported growth in the Gran Santo Domingo region through new leadership inductions and the launch of the 'Jóvenes para el Mañana' movement. Additionally, the party held a community meeting in the South Bronx to engage with residents ahead of the 2028 elections.
