Fujimorismo faces regional setbacks as unions reject Keiko Fujimori's presidency in Peru

In the Peruvian region of Junín, the Fujimorismo party (Force Popular) registered only one regional candidacy and five district lists, failing to field any candidates for the nine provincial mayoralties. This minimal presence contrasts with the recent presidential election in which Keiko Fujimori was proclaimed president, though she had lost the runoff in Junín.

In the southern region of Puno, the regional education union SUTEP announced it will not recognize Keiko Fujimori as president, describing any potential government as illegitimate. Union leader Alexander Pilco cited the region’s vote margin—approximately 84% for rival candidate Roberto Sánchez versus 14% for Fujimorismo—and called for protests and possible strikes to demand constitutional reform and labor rights protections.
