Fujitsu and CODAS advance secure AI platforms for Japan’s finance and industry

Fujitsu Ltd. announced that it will begin development of a dedicated AI platform for financial institutions, Uvance for Finance AI Transformation Platform, on 1 August 2026. The system will run in a sovereign, high‑security environment, use the Takane large‑language model tailored to banking terminology, and incorporate multiple AI agents to automate tasks such as loan assessment and document handling. Fujitsu plans a phased rollout, with the first services expected in March 2027.

On 31 July 2026, the AI Data Sovereignty Co‑Creation Organization launched its “CODAS” secret‑AI infrastructure at a high‑profile event attended by senior officials of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, corporate leaders and global AI firms. CODAS keeps all data on‑premise, offering a “boundary design” that separates shared models from company‑specific ones, and positions AI as a national‑level infrastructure. The launch highlighted collaborations with Runway, which showcased its world‑model video‑generation technology and emphasized data‑sovereignty safeguards.

Both initiatives aim to boost Japan’s productivity while protecting sensitive data, signalling a push toward domestically controlled, trustworthy AI across finance and broader industry.
