Funchal hosts ABBA symphonic tribute for city anniversary

As part of the celebrations for the 518th anniversary of Funchal's elevation to city status, a symphonic tribute to ABBA will be held at Parque de Santa Catarina. The concert, titled ‘ABBA Symphonic’, features a collaboration between the Madeira Classical Orchestra and the Serbian band ABBA Real Tribute.

Directed by conductor Mikica Jevtić with artistic direction by violinist Norberto Gomes, the free event will perform 19 of ABBA's most famous hits. The performance aims to recreate the atmosphere of the Swedish band's original concerts through specific costumes, choreography, and a fusion of pop hits with symphonic arrangements. The city's commemorative program runs from August 17 to August 27.
