Funchal hosts event to promote active and healthy aging

The Funchal Municipality is hosting the second edition of the 'Longevidade na Primeira Pessoa' event at the Colégio dos Jesuítas. The initiative aims to foster reflection on the challenges and opportunities of aging, promoting a positive and active view of longevity.

The event brings together professionals, institutional representatives, and inspiring figures to discuss how society can prepare for longer lives characterized by health, autonomy, and dignity. During the opening, Mayor Jorge Carvalho emphasized that the municipal government is committed to all age groups, highlighting efforts in physical activity through municipal gyms.

Additionally, Carvalho noted mobility support programs such as 'Taxi +75', which assists residents over 75 with transportation for tasks like grocery shopping. The event includes roundtable discussions featuring individuals such as retired professor and artist Isabel Santa Clara, former Regional Director of Forests Rocha da Silva, and Rui Cunha.
