The Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Mato Grosso (Fapemat) signed a cooperation agreement with higher‑education and research institutions in the state to fund 990 scientific initiation scholarships. The program represents an investment of more than R$8.4 million.

Scholarships are allocated as follows: 360 to the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), 90 to the Federal University of Rondonópolis (UFR), 150 to the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso (IFMT), 360 to the State University of Mato Grosso (Unemat), and 10 each to the National Pantanal Research Institute (INPP), Embrapa and the Univag Institute. Recipients must conduct research under faculty supervision, submit periodic technical reports and acknowledge Fapemat’s support in any publications.

Fapemat president Marcos de Sá Fernandes da Silva said the initiative “aims to promote and stimulate the participation of undergraduate students in scientific, technological and innovation projects, contributing to the formation of qualified human resources for the development of the whole state.”
