Nanterre University campus closed following building blockades
The president of Nanterre University announced the closure of the Nanterre campus for Tuesday, October 13, following significant disruptions. While some discussions were held in general assemblies, nearly all university buildings were blocked, preventing staff and students from accessing facilities.
Reports indicate that the blockades were accompanied by instances of intimidation. A central body, the Commission for Training and University Life (CFVU), was unable to meet because the premises were surrounded by approximately one hundred individuals, some of whom were hooded and equipped with carts and pallets. Security personnel struggled to prevent the occupation of an amphitheater.
In response to these actions, which the president condemned for undermining democratic functioning and endangering staff, administrative activities will be conducted remotely. Student assemblies have voted to continue the blockade through the end of the week.
