FX series ‘Adults’ sees 40% viewership growth in second season
The FX comedy series ‘Adults’ has achieved a rare viewership increase in its second season, growing by more than 40% compared to the first season. According to internal Disney data, this growth was measured during the first 12 days of release across Hulu in the United States and Disney+ internationally.
International viewership has been a significant driver, doubling in size compared to the previous season. The series, which follows five friends in their twenties living in New York, also saw a boost in critical reception, with its Rotten Tomatoes score rising to 100%.
Industry analysts note that this growth is notable as many streaming series experience a decline in viewership during their second year. The success of ‘Adults’ follows the release of a standalone prequel episode, ‘Marathon Day’, which helped drive interest in the first season prior to the new season's debut.
