G7 and EU announce new sanctions against Russia and boost aid to Ukraine

The Group of Seven (G7) states announced a fresh package of sanctions targeting Russia and pledged additional weapons for Ukraine. The measures are part of a coordinated effort to increase pressure on Moscow following its ongoing invasion.

In parallel, the European Parliament’s main committee examined the Ukraine situation, discussed further sanctions, and highlighted the prospect of Ukraine’s future EU accession. Austrian officials also called for substantial cuts to the EU’s multi‑year budget while stressing the need to maintain competitiveness and address migration and energy challenges.
