G7 Summit in Evian Turns Publier into Global Media Hub as Leaders Arrive on Social Media

The Group of Seven opened its summit on June 15 in Evian‑les‑Bains, Haute‑Savoie, France, bringing together heads of state from the United States, Japan, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and the host, France. A dedicated International Media Centre was erected in the nearby town of Publier to accommodate roughly 900 accredited journalists from about fifteen countries, offering modern editing suites, radio booths and other facilities.

President Emmanuel Macron announced that each leader’s arrival would be filmed and posted on his social‑media accounts, each clip set to a song associated with the visitor’s homeland. The summit’s agenda is dominated by the war in Ukraine, the expected appearance of President Volodymyr Zelensky, and a pending protocol on a U.S.–Iran agreement that is slated for signing before the summit closes.
