GabInfo calls for digital transformation in Mozambique's public sector
Mozambique's Government Information Office (GabInfo) has called for an acceleration of digital transformation across the country's public institutions. During the opening of the institution's 5th Coordinating Council in Maputo, GabInfo director Luís Canhemba stated that adopting new technologies is essential to modernize state communication and broaden citizen access to information.
Canhemba emphasized that digital transformation is unavoidable, as technology is reshaping how information is produced and shared. The goal is to make government communication more coordinated, professional, and responsive to citizen needs. He also advocated for better coordination between state communication bodies and the broader media to ensure information reaches remote areas, arguing that access to information should not be limited by geographic location.
Additionally, the director identified disinformation and fake news as significant challenges, noting that a well-informed society is a prerequisite for economic and social development.
