Mozambique government communication modernization

Mozambique has initiated efforts to modernize its state communication strategies through institutional coordination and digital transformation.

In August 2026, the government launched the first National Forum of Government Communicators in Maputo. During the event, Minister of State Administration and Civil Service Inocêncio Impissa advocated for a shift toward communication that builds public trust and consolidates democracy. The forum focused on harmonizing methodologies for disclosing policies and addressing the challenges of disinformation and ‘fake news’ in the age of artificial intelligence.

By September 2026, the Government Information Office (GabInfo) expanded on these objectives during its 5th Coordinating Council. Director Luís Canhemba called for an acceleration of digital transformation to ensure state communication is more professional and responsive. He emphasized the necessity of coordinating between state bodies and the media to ensure information reaches remote areas, asserting that digital modernization is essential for both social and economic development.
