Gable Steveson suffers 12-second knockout loss at UFC 331

Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson suffered a 12-second knockout loss to Sean Sharaf at UFC 331, halting his initial 4-0 professional MMA record. The defeat was compounded by Sharaf making public allegations regarding past sexual assault involving Steveson during fight week.

UFC commentator Jon Anik expressed doubt regarding Steveson’s longevity in the promotion, noting that while success is possible if the wrestler reaches ten fights, this loss represents an “appreciable setback” that makes reaching that milestone uncertain.

Following the upset, several fighters, including Colby Covington and Matt Brown, have suggested that Steveson should change his training structure and move away from the mentorship of Jon Jones. Steveson has indicated a desire to expand his coaching team while maintaining Jones’s involvement.
