Gabon concludes teacher training in Makokou
A five-day training session for teachers in Makokou, the provincial capital of Ogooué-Ivindo, has concluded. The program focused on the effective use of ‘Super Efficace’ textbooks for first-year students in subjects including English, mathematics, and environmental studies (EDM).
Jean Lin Essié Efé, the provincial academy director, stated that the initiative is part of a broader effort to transform the Gabonese school system, a movement initiated during the 2010 General Estates of Education. He noted that the training aims to teach educators how to use textbooks as professional tools tailored to student needs rather than mere page-by-page guides.
The training aligns with President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema’s development goals, which prioritize education as a key driver for national progress. Participants expressed satisfaction with the curriculum, particularly the introduction of English in public primary education.
